Eye dominance and shooting mechanics is one of those topics where I think coaches need to slow down before they touch anything.
I've got a kid right now who tilts his head every time he shoots, clear as day, dominant eye lining up with the rim. Same thing happened with Lonzo Ball at UCLA, funky mechanics, but he shot over 40% because that head tilt was actually his sightline working for him.
My instinct as a coach is always to clean things up. But this kid shot 43% on volume threes at a high level doing it his way. So do I touch it and risk breaking what's already working, or do I leave it alone because I don't actually know if "fixing" it gets him to 50% or wrecks him?
The ball passes through both eyes regardless, so I'm not sold this is really a mechanical flaw. I think it's more about understanding how a shooter sees the rim before you ever think about changing how he shoots at it. #shorts
