The number one mistake swimmers make in breaststroke is letting their hips drop with every single stroke. But the problem isn't actually in your hipsβit's in your head!
Here is how to fix your body position:
The Chain Reaction: In swimming, your body position is directly controlled by your head position. Where your eyes look, your body follows.
The Mistake (Exhibit B): If you are looking up at the sky or the ceiling when you breathe, your lower body will instantly sink, creating massive drag.
The Fix (Exhibit A): Keep your eyes looking slightly forward as you pull, and as you extend, look straight down at the bottom of the pool. This keeps your hips high and your stroke efficient!
Be honest... do you think you look more like Swimmer A or Swimmer B right now?
