The Minnesota Timberwolves had two chances to select Steph Curry in the 2009 NBA draft, and they did not.
Hello, this is Clara, bringing you a new episode of Big Deal which talks about the who/what/where/are you kidding me/oh my god/when/why/how of the Wolves decision not to toss young Curry a parka, and select him in the draft.
The missed opportunity(s) creates a fun sliding doors moment to imagine-- Curry a MN man, paired up with Kevin Love, posing for magazines in front of majestic icy lakes, with multiple rings on his fingers and a wolf on his chest. (Cuz he's wearing the uniform, not because he befriended a wolf in the wilds of Minnesota.) (Although... now that I think about it, that would be a good magazine cover.) (And magazine story, actually)
ANYWAY, the Timberwolves passing on Curry was a big deal.
