Never thought I'd feel sorry for Mark Cuban, but I guess I just have a great capacity for empathy and am a really good person? Because, when we're talking about Steve Nash's free agency in 2004, I feel bad for Cuban.
He was in a tough spot, having to decide whether or not to match Phoenix's bonkers offer for the aging point guard. He tried his best to make an informed decision and... totally blew it. Nash left Dallas and immediately won back-to-back MVPs. Oops.
Nobody saw it coming. It wasn't Cuban's fault. But also... it was Cuban's fault.
Letting Nash walk in free agency was a big deal.
