I’ve Never Been This High on a Jake Diebler Transfer | Ohio State Backcourt Preview

Ohio State basketball’s backcourt could be one of the biggest reasons the Buckeyes take a major step forward in the 2026-27 season. In this Ohio State backcourt preview, I break down Jake Diebler’s guard rotation, the biggest questions entering the season, and why I’m higher on Jimmie Williams than any transfer Diebler has brought to Columbus.

Plus, get a breakdown on every player, including John Mobley Jr., Curtis Givens III, Jimmie Williams, Anthony Thompson, Myles Herro, Justin Pippen, LJ Smith, and Braylen Nash.

What should Ohio State expect from its guards this season? We take a deep look at Jimmie Williams, the rest of the Buckeyes’ backcourt, how the pieces fit together offensively and defensively, potential lineups, roles, strengths, concerns and what this group could mean for Ohio State’s ceiling in the Big Ten and NCAA Tournament.

I also explain why my expectations for Jimmie Williams are so high and what I’ve seen that makes me believe he could become one of the most important players on Jake Diebler’s roster.
