A photo circulating all over social media/X has Miami Heat fans talking about a potential blockbuster lineup featuring Darius Garland, Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo.

And while the idea of Darius Garland in a Miami Heat uniform is VERY intriguing, I don’t believe the Heat should actually make this trade right now.

The biggest issue? THE MONEY.

Miami doesn’t simply have the cap flexibility to bring in Garland without making significant moves to match salaries. And if the Heat were to pursue Garland right now, one of the most realistic frameworks would involve Andrew Wiggins and Davion Mitchell, along with a future first-round pick, going to the Clippers for Darius Garland.

And personally?

I’M NOT DOING IT. 🚨

Yes, Garland would give Miami another dynamic offensive creator and one of the best young scoring point guards in the NBA. But the Heat would also be giving up significant depth, a valuable future first-round pick and potentially one of their better pieces in Andrew Wiggins.

There’s also the bigger picture involving the Los Angeles Clippers.

After the NBA determined that the Clippers violated the league’s salary-cap rules involving Kawhi Leonard and lost multiple first-round picks, could Los Angeles eventually become more aggressive about moving players in exchange for additional draft compensation?

That’s where things get VERY interesting.

Could Darius Garland eventually become available?

Could Miami actually be interested?

And if Garland became available, WHAT WOULD THE HEAT HAVE TO GIVE UP?

Most importantly…
