Pornpun Guedpard | The Brain of Volleyball Team Thailand !!! Pornpun Guedpard was the brain, captain and emotional leader behind Thailand’s historic triumph at the 2026 AVC Women’s Volleyball Continental Championship. Thailand successfully defended its Asian title, Pornpun was named both Most Valuable Player and Best Setter, and the victory secured Thailand’s first-ever qualification for the women’s Olympic volleyball tournament.

Pornpun Guedpard, also known by her nickname “Chompoo,” was born on May 5, 1993, in Nakhon Phanom, Thailand. The 173 cm setter wears jersey number 3 and has represented Thailand’s senior national team since 2012. After legendary setter Nootsara Tomkom stepped away from international volleyball, Pornpun accepted the enormous responsibility of leading Thailand’s new generation and eventually became captain of the national team.

Pornpun is famous for her exceptional speed, creativity and volleyball intelligence. Her fast sets, deceptive second touches, setter attacks and unpredictable distribution make it extremely difficult for opposing blockers to read Thailand’s offense. She has an outstanding connection with Thailand’s outside hitters, opposites and middle blockers and perfectly represents the country’s traditional style of quick, creative and combination volleyball.

Thailand completed the entire tournament undefeated. The defending champions defeated Australia 3–0, Indonesia 3–0 and Kazakhstan 3–1 during the preliminary phase. They then eliminated South Korea 3–0 in the quarterfinals, defeated Japan 3–1 in the semifinals and completed their historic campaign with a dramatic 3–2 victory over China in the final.

Pornpun appeared in all six matches and controlled Thailand’s offense throughout the tournament. She finished with 219 successful sets and only three setting errors across 540 recorded setting actions. Her 40.56% setting success rate placed her first among all setters in the competition.

She also contributed 12 points, including six attack points, four blocks and two service aces. Pornpun added 39 successful digs, showing that her impact was not limited to setting and offensive organization.

After the match, Pornpun explained how much the victory meant to Thailand because the team had not defeated Japan for several years. She told her teammates that she believed they could win, and Thailand finally overcame one of its most difficult Asian rivals. The victory guaranteed Thailand a place in the final and qualification for the 2027 FIVB Volleyball World Cup.

Thailand responded by winning the fourth set and then controlled the decisive tie-break to complete an unforgettable 3–2 victory. The final set scores were 25–20, 11–25, 23–25, 25–18 and 15–10.

Pornpun recorded 46 successful sets and eight digs in the final. Her distribution helped Sasipaporn Janthawisut produce 28 points, including 25 kills and three aces. Veteran middle blocker Thatdao Nuekjang added 18 points, including seven blocks, while Chatchu-On Moksri contributed 17 points.

Thailand’s victory secured the country’s fourth Asian Championship title, following its previous triumphs in 2009, 2013 and 2023. More importantly, it earned Thailand its first-ever qualification for the women’s volleyball tournament at the Olympic Games.

Pornpun was named the Most Valuable Player and Best Setter of the 2026 AVC Women’s Volleyball Continental Championship. The Best Setter award recognized her statistical excellence, while the MVP honor reflected her complete influence on Thailand’s campaign. She controlled the offense, contributed in defense, scored important points and provided leadership during the most difficult moments against Japan and China.

The 2026 AVC Continental Championship became one of the greatest achievements of Pornpun Guedpard’s legendary career. She finished the tournament as Asian champion, MVP, Best Setter and the captain who finally led Thailand to the Olympic Games.

Pornpun Guedpard is much more than an ordinary setter. She is the brain of Volleyball Team Thailand, the player who controls the speed and rhythm of every rally and one of the most creative volleyball setters in the world.
