Stop breathing like this!๐โโ๏ธ
Bilateral breathing has its place. But most swimmers are using it wrong.
Breathing every 3 or 5 strokes is a great tool when you are learning technique. It improves balance, builds awareness on both sides, and helps you develop a more symmetrical stroke.
But it does not need to be your default breathing pattern for every workout.
During harder training, most swimmers perform better with more frequent breathing.
Breathing every 2 strokes gives you more consistent access to oxygen, helps reduce CO2 buildup, and makes it easier to maintain your rhythm and pace.
Use bilateral breathing to build technique. Use the breathing pattern that helps you swim strongest when it matters most.
For many swimmers, that means breathing every 2 strokes.
