If your freestyle arm pull feels weak and ineffective, you are likely losing your grip on the water.
Swimming
Soften your hand entry: Slapping the water creates air bubbles that instantly destroy your grip. Try sliding your fingertips in softly, as if you are gently reaching into an envelope.
Relax your fingers: Squeezing your hands together super tight actually decreases your surface area. Try keeping a tiny, relaxed gap between your fingers to create the absolute perfect catch.
Keep your elbows high: Dropping your elbow underwater causes you to lose all your pulling leverage. Focus on keeping your elbow nice and high near the surface so your entire forearm acts like a giant paddle.
Technique comes before speed. Mindfully work these small shifts into your next warmup, and always swim with a smile! 💙
