In today's video, Alex from Meta Endurance reviews the HOKA Clifton Pro, the latest release from HOKA. Is it as exciting as it looks? The answer is complicated.
Starting with the midsole, there is a lot to like. The new Supercritical EVA compound is softer and bouncier than anything HOKA have put under a daily trainer before, delivering a heel feel that sits comfortably alongside the Nike Vomero Plus and the Diadora Atomo Star. It is a genuinely impressive ride for an advanced runner looking for cushioning and versatility across easy miles, endurance runs, and uptempo efforts alike.
The upper, however, is a different story. The tongue is over-padded and too short, the laces disappoint, and overall the fit and finish does not quite meet the standard you would expect at this price point, especially when you look at what HOKA themselves have achieved on shoes like the Skyward X 2. It is a shoe with a brilliant foundation let down by execution in the details.
If you want an honest, balanced take on one of HOKA's most interesting new releases, Alex delivers.
