Are your fingers squeezed tightly together when you swim?
You are losing power! 🏊♂️💧
The exact way you hold your hand underwater completely changes how much water you pull. If you are cupping your hands, you are making your stroke harder than it needs to be.
Here is how to find the fastest hand position for your stroke:
The Cupped Hand Mistake: Squeezing your fingers completely tight or cupping your hand actually decreases your total surface area and ruins your stability.
The Wide Spread Mistake: On the other hand, if your fingers are spread wide apart, all the water will just slip right through the gaps.
The Millimeter Rule: The absolute fastest position is a relaxed, powerful hand with just a few millimeters of space between each finger. This naturally increases the total surface area of your pull!
The Table Test: Try this right now. Push your hand flat on a table with squeezed fingers (unstable), then spread them wide (weak), and finally try it relaxed with tiny gaps. The relaxed position will give you the most power and control.
