The Japanese men's volleyball team, ranked 6th in the FIVB world rankings (as of the start of the match), faced Bahrain, ranked 49th, on Sunday, September 6th, and won in straight sets with a score of 3-0 (25-15, 25-15, 25-23).

In the first set, Hideomi Fukatsu's serve created an opportunity, giving Japan a 2-0 lead. Two consecutive service aces from Ran Takahashi made it 5-3, and a back attack from Yuji Nishida and a block from Taishi Onodera extended the lead to 12-6. Onodera's consecutive quick attacks further solidified Japan's lead. The combination of Kento Miyaura and Yudai Kawato, who were brought in as a double substitution, also worked well, and they continued to score points. Finally, Nishida sealed the victory, and Japan won the first set 25-15.

In the second set, Yuki Ishikawa made a block, followed by a quick attack from Onodera and a service ace from Ran Takahashi, giving Japan an early lead. Ran Takahashi's effective serves led to consecutive breaks, making the score 17-8. With stable side-outs and breaks at crucial moments, Japan's Evadedan Larry played a key role in both offense and defense, scoring points with blocks and good digs, and they won the set 25-15.

In the third set, Miyaura, who was put into the starting lineup, scored with a powerful spike, and Ishikawa made a one-handed receive before Takahashi Ran scored with a spike. However, Japan's serve reception was shaky, and the score was tied at 12-12. Japan then took the lead, but was tied again, prompting Japan to call a timeout. The back-and-forth battle continued even after the score exceeded 20, but Takahashi Ran's spike made it 25-23, giving Japan a 3-0 set victory.

, "In the first and second sets, we were able to take the offensive, so I think we were able to score points and the game was easy for us. However, I personally felt a little stressed in the third set, and even though we had a two-point lead, we were caught up to, and I think we could have created a situation where we could have pulled further ahead in the middle of the set, so we need to reflect on that. As a team, we have the challenge of not being able to maintain that two-point lead and controlling the game more effectively, so it was good that we won, but we also need to be more particular about the content of the game. It was good that we were able to win 3-0, but I think it would have been different if the opponent was a stronger team like China, Iran, or Australia, so regardless of the opponent, we need to be particular about how we win." I think that's what we need to do. (Regarding the serve) I think I was able to hit some very good serves, and I was able to hit more powerful shots than in the Oman match and attack very aggressively, so I was reminded again that the Japanese national team scores points in that way. It's important to score points ourselves rather than waiting for the opponent to make mistakes, so I think we were able to be aggressive with our serves. (Looking ahead to the match against Australia) They are undoubtedly the highest ranked team in this qualifying round, and I think they are a high-level team, including their height, so if we play like we did in the third set today, I'm worried that we might lose the set, so first of all, we want to put our own style of volleyball front and center and play in a way that we take the initiative to win.
