The Cincinnati Bengals head to South Florida this Sunday with one goal: stop the slide before it becomes a season-defining problem. At 2-2 after consecutive losses, Cincinnati faces an 0-4 Miami Dolphins team desperate for its first win. On paper, this is a favorable matchup for the Bengals. On the field, it is a chance to prove they can respond to adversity.

The Bengals' offense has the talent to overwhelm Miami, but the health of its receiving corps is the biggest storyline. Ja’Marr Chase is working through concussion protocol, while Tee Higgins has missed practice with groin and neck issues. Their availability could dramatically change the complexion of the game.
Quarterback Joe Burrow has thrown for 1,171 yards and seven touchdowns through four games. Cincinnati needs him operating confidently, distributing the ball efficiently and avoiding the costly mistakes that have contributed to recent defeats. If Chase and Higgins cannot go, the supporting cast must deliver, and the running game needs to shoulder more responsibility.
Defensively, Cincinnati has a significant opportunity. Miami is averaging just 11.5 points per game, and quarterback Malik Willis has struggled with accuracy while facing consistent pressure. The Bengals have recorded 14 sacks, tied for the NFL's third-best total through four weeks. Getting after Willis without surrendering running lanes should be a major priority.
The Bengals must also avoid overlooking Miami's ground game. Rookie running back Ollie Gordon showed explosive potential against Minnesota, so disciplined tackling and sound gap assignments will be essential.
Miami's defense has shown it can pressure quarterbacks, particularly after an encouraging performance against Minnesota. Cincinnati cannot afford turnovers, stalled drives or another slow start. The Bengals need to establish Chase Brown early, protect Burrow and capitalize on scoring opportunities.
The verdict: Cincinnati has the more productive offense and a clear advantage in pass-rush production, but the injuries at receiver make this more complicated than the records suggest. If the Bengals play clean football and their defense controls Willis, they should have an excellent opportunity to leave Miami with a much-needed win. After two straight losses, this is less about style points and more about getting the season back on track.
