Struggling to catch your breath in freestyle? 😮💨
If you feel like you are constantly gasping for air or throwing your stroke off balance every time you turn your head, you need to isolate your technique. Here are 3 drills to improve breathing in freestyle.
Add these to your next workout to lock in your form:
Paddle on Head Drill: This drill forces you to keep your head perfectly still and aligned with your spine, preventing you from over-rotating or lifting your head when you go for a breath.
Single Arm Freestyle: By isolating one arm, you can focus entirely on the timing of your breath and ensure you are rotating smoothly with your core.
3 Strokes + 12 Kicks: This drill teaches you how to find your balance point in the water. Taking 12 kicks on your side allows you to stabilize, grab a calm breath, and prepare for your next stroke.
