Japan vs Poland | Crazy Volleyball Battle | Men's VNL 2025. Japan's journey in the Volleyball Nations League 2025 came to an end in the quarterfinals after a tough battle against Poland on July 31, 2025, in Ningbo, China. The world's No. 1 ranked team Poland proved too strong, defeating Japan in straight sets 3-0 (25-23, 26-24, 25-12) to advance to the semifinals.
Despite the final score, the first two sets were incredibly competitive. Japan showcased its trademark speed, defense, and fighting spirit, pushing Poland to the limit in both sets. Led by captain Yuki Ishikawa and opposite hitter Kento Miyaura, Japan stayed within reach throughout the opening stages of the match. However, Poland's experience and composure in the crucial moments allowed them to edge the first set 25-23 and the second set 26-24.
The turning point of the match was Poland's incredible blocking performance. The Polish team recorded 14 kill blocks compared to Japan's 3, constantly shutting down Japan's fast offense and putting immense pressure on the attackers. While Japan actually scored more attack points (36 to 34) and matched Poland with 4 service aces, the blocking advantage proved decisive.
Kento Miyaura was Japan's top scorer with 17 points, including 15 attacks and 2 aces. Captain Yuki Ishikawa added 11 points and continued to lead from the front despite facing a relentless Polish block throughout the match.
For Poland, Kewin Sasak led the scoring with 15 points, including 3 aces and 2 blocks. Tomasz Fornal added 11 points and delivered an outstanding all-around performance, contributing 4 crucial kill blocks. One of the most memorable moments of the match came when Jakub Nowak made an incredible foot save during a spectacular rally before Poland eventually finished the point and closed out the match.
After narrowly losing the first two sets, Japan struggled to recover in the third. Poland took complete control with powerful serving, disciplined defense, and dominant net play, cruising to a 25-12 victory to seal the match.
