Ohio State head coach Ryan Day isn’t treating Saturday’s showdown against Indiana as a revenge game following last season’s Big Ten Championship loss.
No. 4 Ohio State will travel to Bloomington to face No. 5 Indiana in one of the biggest matchups of the college football weekend. The game is a rematch of last year’s Big Ten Championship, when Indiana defeated Ohio State in a battle of unbeaten teams before going on to win the first national championship in program history.
“Nothing that happened in the past has anything to do with what’s going on this weekend,” Day said during his weekly press conference.
“We can learn from the past, so some of the guys who played in that game can learn about all the reasons that we came up short. And that’s fine, that’s good, but the focus has to be on right now.”
Ohio State enters the matchup with an offense led by quarterback Julian Sayin and wide receiver Jeremiah Smith, both of whom have generated Heisman Trophy consideration.
Saturday’s matchup gives the Buckeyes an opportunity to avenge last year’s conference championship defeat, but Day is making it clear that his team’s focus is on the present rather than the past.
