Is the TYR Valkyrie Elite 2 the Best Race Day Shoe of 2026? | Thys' Honest Review

In today's video, Thys reviews the TYR Valkyrie Elite 2, one of the most exciting race day shoes to hit the market in 2026 and a serious contender at the top end of the carbon plated field.

The Valkyrie Elite 2 has shed around a third of its weight compared to its predecessor, coming in at just 150g, and the new HYPERLAUNCH midsole, refreshed geometry and redesigned upper make it a fundamentally different shoe to the original in almost every way. The upper is light, breathable and secure, with excellent lockdown and no sharp edges to speak of, a real improvement on the first version. The HYPERLAUNCH A-TPU foam delivers outstanding energy return, and paired with the extended carbon plate, the rocker and toe off are aggressive, fast and seriously fun.

The caveat is an important one. This is a forefoot striker's best friend and a shoe built for outright performance rather than forgiveness. If your mechanics are strong and your turnover is high, the Valkyrie Elite 2 will make you fly. If you are a heel striker with stability needs, keep looking.
