Arafan Diané Scouting Report: Houston’s 7-Foot Freshman Center, NBA Draft Comps, Strengths and Weaknesses

Houston freshman center Arafan Diané is one of the most intriguing bigs in the 2027 NBA Draft class, and on this episode of Locked On NBA Draft we break down his game. The 7-foot, 280-pound McDonald’s All-American from Conakry, Guinea led the FIBA U17 World Cup in rebounding and committed to Houston as one of the top-ranked centers in his class.

We dig into his offense, defense, and rebounding, and what he has to prove at Houston. We also get into NBA comparisons to Eddy Curry, Jerome James, and DeMarcus Cousins. Which version of that heavy, skilled big man does Diané become? How far can his touch and size take him, and what do his motor and defensive mobility mean for his NBA projection?
