DeBrincat Signs $91M Deal. Can the Red Wings Stop Losing?

Alex DeBrincat is staying in Detroit. His seven-year, $91 million extension gives the Red Wings a much-needed vote of confidence—but can they turn that commitment into wins?

On Red Wings Rant Episode 412, we break down DeBrincat’s $13 million annual cap hit, why he chose to stay through the turmoil, and what Shawn Horcoff’s first major move means for Detroit’s direction.

DeBrincat, Emmitt Finnie and Michael Brandsegg-Nygård have become Detroit’s bright spot, with their line driving all four Red Wings goals against New Jersey. But losses to Seattle, Montreal and the Devils have left Detroit at 1–3–2. Where is the support from the rest of the lineup, including Dylan Larkin, Lucas Raymond and Viktor Arvidsson?

We also discuss Horcoff’s statement that he has “zero interest” in trading Simon Edvinsson despite the reported request. DeBrincat is signed. Edvinsson is not. What has to happen next?

Is this extension the start of real stability—or a great player committing to a team that still needs major work? Tell us in the comments, like the video and subscribe for more Red Wings Rant.
