FIRESTORM: Simon Edvinsson Wants Out—Should the Sharks POUNCE on a Massive Detroit Deal?

Detroit Red Wings face uncertainty as Simon Edvinsson reportedly seeks a trade—could the San Jose Sharks strike a deal for the 6’6” defenseman? JD Young breaks down Edvinsson’s stalled contract negotiations, player profile, and rising value amid Detroit’s front-office shuffle and Dylan Larkin’s pending departure. Are the Sharks ready to add a prime-age blue line presence to anchor their rebuild?

Key topics include Edvinsson’s fit alongside Michael Kesselring, trade package projections featuring Sam Dickinson and Filip Bystedt, and the financial implications of a $10 million AAV, 7-year contract. JD Young explores roster ripple effects, cap space strategy, and how Edvinsson could transform San Jose’s defensive core. Is this the pillar the Sharks need for playoff contention, or too steep a price for immediate success?
