The Phillies suffered a crushing loss in Game 1 of the NL Wild Card Series, but the sting is a familiar one.

Phillies closer Jhoan Duran entered the game in the seventh inning in part because they have few trustworthy options. He pitched a clean seventh, then allowed a three-run homer with two outs in the eighth inning to Austin Riley. It was the third consecutive postseason the Phillies blew a late-inning lead in Game 1 and lost.
