Season 4, Episode 4: David Bednar

Every moment that a closer is on the mound makes for something of a hot seat, so for David Bednar, sitting down for an interview with Yankees Magazine deputy editor Jon Schwartz for the New York Yankees Official Podcast was hardly a challenge worth noting. But still, the Yankees’ closer, who came over in a deadline deal last year, prefers to do his talking on the field. Quiet and mild-tempered, yet quick to laugh, Bednar has been a force out of the bullpen for his new team, and he chats with Schwartz about leaving his hometown squad to pitch for a winner, rising from the depths of the MLB Draft’s 35th round and pitching for Team USA in the last two World Baseball Classics.
