Liverpool FC WON'T Sign a Midfielder in January?!

Dave Davis returns with another edition of Newsround for Anfield Index Part 3.

Covering Liverpool's latest transfer links, midfield recruitment concerns and fresh developments surrounding Manchester City.

The biggest transfer story involves Finn Jeltsch, with Spanish outlet Sport reporting that Liverpool have joined Barcelona and Real Madrid in the race for the highly rated Stuttgart defender.

The Reds are reportedly willing to pay around £43million for the 20-year-old German, but would he be the right fit for Andoni Iraola's squad?

Dave examines Jeltsch's impressive pace, passing ability and defensive statistics, while raising concerns about his aerial-duel success rate compared with Liverpool's existing centre-back options.

Attention then turns to Liverpool's midfield transfer strategy, with David Lynch suggesting that the club currently have no plans to sign a midfielder in January, although that position could change.

Despite interest in Alex Scott and Lamine Camara, Dave questions whether Liverpool can afford another transfer window without midfield reinforcements.

There's also discussion about Alexis Mac Allister's uncertain long-term future, the latest links to Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha and why Dave believes Camara and Scott should be higher on Liverpool's list of priorities.

Away from Anfield, Dave reacts to reports concerning Manchester City, political gifts and hospitality involving the UAE and British politicians, questioning the wider relationship between football, money and political influence.

Finally, Dave addresses reports linking Florian Wirtz with Chelsea, dismissing suggestions that the German playmaker is looking to leave Liverpool following his recent improvement in form.

With Liverpool preparing to face Villarreal in the Champions League, Dave also considers Iraola's selection decisions and the importance of managing Alexander Isak's workload.

Will Liverpool strengthen their midfield in January, and could Finn Jeltsch become the Reds' next major defensive signing?

All this and more on Newsround with Dave Davis, bringing you the latest Liverpool FC transfer news, analysis and reaction.
