The Pittsburgh Steelers need a chess piece defender in the middle of their defense, and they're pinning their hopes on Jalen Ramsey to fill the role. Christopher Carter explains where Ramsey could be the boost they need as a versatile defender if he doesn't have to stick to free safety this year, and how having an elite chess piece defender has been the key to the best Steelers' defenses in the past 20 years. But even if Ramsey can't fill that role on an elite level, Chris points out several prospects who could be in the 2027 NFL Draft to fill such a role like Notre Dame's Kingston Viliamu-Asu or Braunte Johnson, Georgia's Chris Cole and KJ Bolden, LSU's Dashawn Spears or Texas' Rasheem Biles.
