The Pittsburgh Pirates finally moved on from Dennis Santana, designating the struggling reliever for assignment while acquiring Ron Marinaccio from the San Diego Padres for $500,000 in international bonus pool space. It is a necessary bullpen change, but it cannot be Ben Cherington’s final move before the MLB trade deadline.
DiNardo and Tyler break down what the Pirates might see in Marinaccio, whether Pittsburgh can still be trusted to fix struggling pitchers, and why the decision to trade David Bednar looks even worse now.
