Mitch Keller Implodes as Pirates Drop 5th in 6 Games

The Pirates closed a disastrous series in Cincinnati with a 9-1 loss, dropping three of four to the Reds and five of their last six games overall.

Mitch Keller lasted just two innings and allowed seven earned runs, while the Pirates recorded only four hits and struck out 13 times against Chase Burns and the Cincinnati bullpen. Camilo Doval also surrendered a home run during his Pirates debut.

With Pittsburgh falling below .500 and losing ground in the Wild Card race, the pressure is now on Ben Cherington to significantly improve this roster before Monday’s 6 PM ET MLB Trade Deadline.
