How a Brutal Early Schedule Is Hiding What the Dallas Mavericks Really Are

The Dallas Mavericks are 4-4 and 10% of the way through the NBA season, with half their games against the Houston Rockets and San Antonio Spurs. Is this Mavs team good, bad, or somewhere in the middle, and how much has Cooper Flagg’s superstar start covered for Kyrie Irving lineups that are still a work in progress?

Nick Angstadt and Isaac Harris give the state of the Dallas Mavericks: Cooper Flagg’s on-off numbers, what happens when Kyrie Irving plays without him, and Dusty May’s early grade as head coach. They also cover the Mavs’ rebounding and free throw problems, and how Daniel Gafford, PJ Washington, Naji Marshall, Max Christie, Caleb Martin, Marcus Sasser, Zaccharie Risacher, Morez Johnson Jr., Sergio De Larrea, Tobi Lawal, and Walter Clayton Jr. have played so far. Plus updates on Santi Aldama and Dereck Lively II, and what Mavs Team President Masai Ujiri could do before the NBA trade deadline.
