Episode Notes
January 17, 2026: Michigan State begins its West Coast trip this Saturday with a matchup against the Huskies of Washington. Last year was not a good trip for the green and white as they were swept by the California teams in LA. Izzo and company is hoping for a better swing to the Pacific time zone this time.
Fortunately for the Spartans, both Washington and Oregon are struggling this year. In the first game, Washington presents more of a problem for the Spartans as Danny Sprinkle has added a significant amount of talent to his almost completely new team. Hannes Steinbach has lived up to preseason billing and has been a sensational freshman almost certainly entering the NBA draft in the Spring as a first round pick.
Unfortunately for the Huskies, injuries have riddled this team all year which has significantly hurt their cohesion on both ends of the court. Both Wesley Yates and Desmond Claude have just returned to the lineup and highly regarded freshman, JJ Mandaquit, will be making only his second appearance of the season facing the Spartans. This is a potentially dangerous team that Michigan State has to be cautious of.
