CLARITY: Florida's pick to Chicago in the Seth Jones trade is Top-10 protected!

On today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) discusses the confusion throughout the hockey world on the conditions from the Seth Jones trade from last March. It was believed that leading up to Friday morning, that the first round pick that the Panthers packaged to Chicago for Jones was unprotected. However, NHL Insider Frank Seravalli tweeted the order of the NHL Draft lottery, which had Florida at the 10th bets odds to select first overall That made people question whether the pick was top-10 protected, and Seravalli confirmed with multiple sources as well that it is. With the Panthers being plagued with injuries thisw season, there is a silver lining if that ends up being the case ot them picking top 10. This also gives them options on what to either do with the pick? What they do will also depend on where they pick in the draft as a different course of action, whteher it's to stay in NCAA/CHL, or join the big club and attempt to make an impact player right away. This could also help the Panthers search the trade market in the case of trying to get an NHL ready player. Despite 10 players going to the Olympics, the mission will still be to attempt to make the postseason, so despite the great opportunity, the group will feel that they still have a lot to play for, and there's a positive in that as well.
