Welcome to Episode 22 - Big-Time Players Make Big-Time Plays in Big-Time Games with Kirsten Simms!
This week, hosts Jeff Lerg and Chris Palmer bring on 2025 National Champion, Kirsten Simms who has recently became an online sensation with her penalty shot and OT winning goal to catapult the Wisconsin Badgers to win the National Championship against Ohio State. After being down 3-2 with 18 seconds left in the 3rd period, Kirsten is seen raising her hand, courageously volunteering herself to take arguably one of the most high pressure chances to ever occur in a hockey game with so much poise and confidence.
This episode highlights:
- Recounting the National Championship game against Ohio State, noting it was their third consecutive year facing them in the finals.
- How she had the ability to perform under such high pressure along with her mindset in that situation of taking the penalty shot.
- Kirsten's background as a 'rink rat' with exceptional stick handling skills and how that came to be.
- How Kirsten has been able to blossom into the player she is today, expressing the importance of setting smaller, achievable goals to reach larger objectives.
- Always training with intent and purpose, contrasting the approach with those who merely spend time at the rink without focused effort and why having a goal-oriented mindset is a key factor in success.
- What's next for Kirsten Simms?
