DOLPHINS SQUAD SHOW: Can the New-Look Dolphins Shock the Raiders in Vegas? Miami’s Week 1 Preview

The wait is over.

The Jeff Hafley era officially begins Sunday as the Miami Dolphins head to Las Vegas for Week 1 against the Raiders — and this will be the first real look at one of the most dramatically rebuilt teams in the NFL.

Jim “GRIES” Grieshaber is joined by Kyle Crabbs and former Miami Dolphins defensive lineman Jeff Zgonina for the official Dolphins Squad Show Week 1 pregame breakdown.

Miami enters the season with a new head coach, a new starting quarterback in Malik Willis, roughly 35 players who were not active for the Dolphins in Week 1 last season, and young players being asked to take major roles immediately.

Willis begins his first season as Miami’s QB1 after being voted a team captain alongside De’Von Achane, Aaron Brewer, Patrick Paul, Zach Sieler and Jordyn Brooks. The crew breaks down what Miami needs from Willis, how Bobby Slowik can build the offense around Achane, and whether young receivers Malik Washington, Chris Bell and Caleb Douglas are ready to make an immediate impact.

Up front, one matchup looms over everything: Patrick Paul and Miami’s offensive line against Maxx Crosby. Can the Dolphins protect Willis, establish the run and prevent Crosby from taking over the game?

Defensively, the matchup changed significantly when Raiders tight end Brock Bowers was ruled out following a knee procedure. That leaves Miami’s young defense facing veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins, running back Ashton Jeanty, and a Raiders receiving corps without its biggest weapon.

Kyle and Z also break down rookie linebacker Jacob Rodriguez, who will wear the defensive green dot and relay Jeff Hafley’s calls in his first NFL start, plus the potential pass-rush opportunities for Chop Robinson and Zach Sieler.

Finally, the guys make their official Week 1 predictions and hit the biggest stories from around the NFL after Seattle defeated New England and San Francisco dominated the Rams.

The rebuild is over.

The preseason is over.

Now Jeff Hafley, Malik Willis and the new-look Miami Dolphins finally get judged on the scoreboard.
