The Phillies went 4-2 on a road trip through San Diego and Los Angeles, which typically would be time to celebrate.
But the Phillies’ struggling offense is a growing concern. They haven’t scored five runs in a game since May 18. They haven’t had 10 hits in a game since May 15. The Phillies are 21-10 since Don Mattingly became interim manager, but in that time they rank 29th in baseball with a .291 on-base percentage, 17 with a .693 OPS and 16th in runs per game (4.23).
