PHILLIES POSTCAST: EDMUNDO SOSA w GAME-WINNING GRAND SLAM, Philadelphia Phillies top LA Angels, 5-3

The Philadelphia Phillies get a game-winning, pinch-hit GRAND SLAM with two-outs in the 9th from Edmundo Sosa, to beat the Los Angeles Angels, 5-3.

Prior to Sosa’s heroics Andrew Painter had some first inning struggles in this one, allowing three runs on two hits, a walk and two wild pitches. He then sat 15 batters in-a-row, a new career high before walking Wade Meckler in the 6th.

The Phillies offense seemed snake bit in this one. In the 4th, they recorded back-to-back one-out base hits, then Luis Arraez smoked a liner up the middle that hit off the glove of Reid Detmers and into the glove of Zach Neto who caught the liner and stepped on second for the double play.

Then in the 5th, after Derek Hill bunted home Alec Bohm with two outs, Kyle Schwarber smacked a single to right field. Bryan De La Cruz was on second when Schwarber hit the single into right, DLC rounded third and was held by third base coach Anothny Contreras, but DLC couldn’t slam on the breaks and was thrown out at home.

Before Sosa’s Grand Slam in the 9th, Bryson Stott launched a ball over the wall in right with two on and it WOULD have given the Phillies a 4-3 lead, but Wade Meckler tracked it perfectly, jumped at the wall and pulled it back from the stands with a miraculous catch.
