ORIOLES POSTCAST: Baltimore Orioles CHOKE Another Game Away in Gut-Wrenching 10-Inning Loss to Milwaukee Brewers

The Baltimore Orioles had chance after chance to beat the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday night — and they CHOKED away every one of them in a crushing 6-5 extra-inning loss.

Cade Povich could not settle in early, retiring only 11 batters while allowing three earned runs on five hits. The biggest mistake was a lifeless 3-0 changeup that Jackson Chourio crushed for a three-run homer. But the Orioles fought back immediately, as Pete Alonso launched a huge three-run blast to tie the game.

That should have been the turning point.

Instead, Baltimore loaded the bases with one out after Alonso’s homer and came away with nothing. Colton Cowser and Jeremiah Jackson failed to deliver, setting the tone for another frustrating night of missed chances. The Orioles finished just 2-for-13 with runners in scoring position, including 0-for-their-final-11 opportunities.

The bullpen kept the Orioles alive with 4.2 scoreless innings, but Rico Garcia’s ninth inning put Baltimore in a hole after a walk to Bryce Turang and RBI hits by William Contreras and Christian Yelich. Still, the O’s refused to quit: Samuel Basallo and Christian Encarnacion-Strand delivered back-to-back sacrifice flies in the ninth to tie the game and force extra innings.

Then came the final gut punch.

Milwaukee scored the automatic runner in the 10th inning, while Baltimore could not even move its own runner over. Another winnable game. Another critical late-game failure. Another brutal loss as the Orioles’ postseason hopes continue to fade.
