Canucks waive Raty & Leave Buium Alone

The Vancouver Canucks are searching for answers, and two major storylines have fans talking.

First, ZEEV BUIUM IS STRUGGLING.

The 20-year-old defenceman has just one assist through eight games, and after a costly turnover against the Islanders, head coach Manny Malhotra dropped him to the third pairing and took him off the power play.

For a player signed to an eight-year, $75.04 million extension, the expectations are enormous. But is this simply growing pains for a young defenceman, or should Canucks fans be concerned?

Then there's AATU RÄTY BEING PLACED ON WAIVERS.

After appearing in just four of Vancouver's first eight games, Räty could be headed to the AHL if he clears waivers. What does this say about his future with the Canucks, and why has the organization struggled to find a consistent role for him?

We're breaking down both decisions, what they mean for Vancouver's rebuild, and whether fans need to be patient or start asking tougher questions.
