Bad Games? Or Bad Habits for the Colorado Avalanche? The Rink Report Ep 7

The Colorado Avalanche are searching for consistency, and Jesse Montano and Meghan Angley are breaking down what’s going wrong on the latest episode of The Rink Report on Altitude Sports Radio! After a strong performance against the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Avs stumbled again against the Nashville Predators, raising questions about their early-season identity, defensive execution, and ability to bring a consistent effort every night. Jesse and Meghan dig into the biggest concerns facing the Colorado Avalanche, including the struggling power play, a penalty kill that hasn’t looked as sharp as last season, and defensive breakdowns that are affecting the team at both ends of the ice. They also discuss the importance of depth scoring, the need for better contributions from the blue line, and whether players like Sam Malinski, Josh Manson, and Brent Burns can get their games back on track. Plus, hear Jared Bednar’s message about resetting after disappointing performances, why the Avs may be putting too much pressure on themselves to return to the Western Conference Final, and what Gabriel Landeskog’s blunt postgame comments could mean for the team’s response. The episode wraps up with a discussion of the Connor Hellebuyck trade from the Winnipeg Jets to the New Jersey Devils and what the move means for the competitive landscape around the NHL. Are the Avalanche experiencing normal early-season growing pains, or are there deeper concerns? Jesse and Meghan share their perspectives on what Colorado needs to do to find its game before these struggles become a pattern.
