She quickly established herself as one of the Big Ten's premier post players, earning Associated Press All-America honors, All-Big Ten recognition, and Big Ten Freshman of the Year after averaging 19 points and 11 rebounds in her debut season.

Herrig Tanny finished her Iowa career with 1,319 points and 789 rebounds while starting every game she played as a Hawkeye. She also authored one of the most remarkable individual performances in program history with a 42-point, 25-rebound game.
