Padres magic number down to 6, Michael King shines, faith in Ethan Salas

The Padres magic number to clinch the final wild card spot is down to six after the Padres beat the Rockies 9-2, taking three out of 4 in Colorado.

Marty Caswell and Darren Smith discuss Michael King's terrific performance, the Padres ability to escape Coors Field unscathed and how big a deal it was to give Mason Miller and Adrian Morejon a much-needed breather.

The two discuss Ethan Salas' incredible two-HR performance and read into Craig Stammen's comments on Salas being on the playoff roster. How much faith are the Padres already showing in Salas and what does it mean for possibly carrying three catchers on the playoff roster?

Darren and Marty then discuss why the path ahead to the top wild card spot and the biggest obstacles facing the Cubs and Phillies. Could the Padres rest Michael King on the final homestand and save him for game one in the playoffs? And how do Padres fans feel about the job Craig Stammen has done in his rookie season? The two read tweets from Padres fans, who are both complimentary of his on-the-job training, feel it's a deep run in the playoffs and wonder if he'll get outmanaged in the playoffs.
