USMNT GK Alumni Jon Busch And Former MLS GK Eric Klenofsky: The State of the Goalkeeper Union In America

USMNT GK Alumni Jon Busch & Former MLS GK Eric Klenofsky: The State of the Goalkeeper Union In America

We are halfway through the USMNT's 4-game international break. With our arch-rivals Mexico on the horizon, former USMNT GK Jon Busch and Former MLS GK Eric Klenofsky join the panel to break down the 4 goalkeepers in this camp's pool.

First, we discuss the intense experiences of heading into a national team camp, how to earn respect from veterans, and how to showcase that you belong at the elite level. Then we breakdown Chris Brady's performance in the recent match against Chile, including a deep tactical analysis of the goal allowed on a botched box-out during a corner kick sequence.

Then we speak big picture on the state of the goalkeeping union in the United States. Are we working together, or are we operating on isolated islands? What can the USSF do to assist youth club coaches?

We also debate what you truly learn at coaching courses after hours versus the actual official sessions.

Michael then shares an authentic story of dealing with 34 goalkeepers at one time and how he solved the problem.

We wrap up the pod with our hopes for 2027 resources to assist young goalkeeper coaches.

At The Union GK, we know goalkeeping is simply the vehicle; elite life skills, drive, and personal resilience are the definitive result. Stop settling for cookie-cutter training programs that build passive robots.
