he Orioles offense had no answers AGAIN for Matthew Boyd. Boyd dominated Baltimore with 6 shutout innings at Camden Yards, continuing a pattern after blanking them for 7 innings at Wrigley in 2025. Pair that with back-to-back Cubs shutouts in Baltimore in 2024, and this matchup is starting to feel one-sided. Adley Rutschman came through with a clutch 2-out, 2-run single to get the Orioles on the board, but overall it wasn’t enough. Baltimore finished just 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position — and that tells the story. Shane Baz got electric results early, retiring the first 8 Cubs on just 23 pitches before running into trouble. Alex Bregman and Pete Crow-Armstrong delivered key RBIs, and defensive lapses from the Orioles outfield didn’t help. Dylan Beavers misplayed a fly ball that turned into a leadoff double, and a no-throw sac fly to Taylor Ward allowed another easy run. Anthony Nunez also allowed two runs in relief as the game slipped further away late.
