A frustrating opening day on Merseyside as Crystal Palace fall to a 2-0 defeat against Everton at Hill Dickinson Stadium, in a match where the final scoreline hardly tells the full story. Pierre Sage's side controlled large portions of the game and carved out prime opportunities-including Jean-Philippe Mateta striking the woodwork and Jordan Pickford pulling off crucial stops-only to be undone against the run of play by strikes from Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Thierno Barry either side of the interval. Despite a concerning injury blow to Chadi Riad, the Eagles showed plenty of attacking intent and handed debuts to new signings off the bench, leaving plenty of tactical positives to build on even if the points slipped
