The guys from Dawgman.com - Kim Grinolds, Chris Fetters, and Scott Eklund - were at Husky Stadium Thursday to check out Day 11 of Washington's spring football campaign, and it felt a bit like the calm before the storm.
You're getting to the part of camp where guys can start to hit a little bit of a wall, especially the younger players, but in this case the shells and shorts practice felt more like a warmup for what UW fans should expect to see Saturday afternoon during their last big scrimmage before Dawgs After Dark, the following Friday.
For one thing, it wasn't a very long practice. It went basically two hours as UW Head Coach Jedd Fisch cut things short right before we expected to see another team period to round things out. That may have been because of the ongoing NFL Draft and players and coaches wanting to watch some of their former teammates potentially get drafted.
It might also be because Saturday's scrimmage is expected to be a longer one and get want the available players to be as fresh as possible.
The Dawgman guys talked about what they did see today, including some two-minute work for the first time all camp, and also who is standing out among the UW running backs, receivers, and tight ends. Who is getting more open; Dezmen Roebuck, or Decker DeGraaf?
They also talked about the physical transformation for some of the younger players, like Ansu Sanoe, Ryken Moon, and others, and Scott offered up a quick recruiting update as a number of important recruits are expected to be at Husky Stadium on Saturday. And they had one big visitor in today.
