On June 23, 2011 the Philadelphia Flyers acquired the 8th overall pick in that year’s draft, along with Jakub Voracek and a third rounder from the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for Jeff Carter. The following day, GM Paul Holmgren used that first round pick to select Sean Couturier. Coots, now the team’s captain, is set to become the third player in franchise history to surpass 1,000 games played in Orange & Black, and with his place on the roster all but guaranteed in 2026-27, his 16th season on the team’s roster surpasses Bobby Clarke for most years in the organization as a player!
