Joe and Jada - LL Cool J tells CLASSIC Def Jam & Rick Rubin stories + talks coining “G.O.A.T.,” ‘NCIS: New York’ & “I Need Love”

Fat Joe and Jadakiss are joined by Queens rap pioneer and true hip-hop icon LL Cool J to discuss his unrivaled longevity, legendary catalog, and his starring role in the gritty new series 'NCIS: New York,' which premieres October 6th on CBS. LL explains becoming the very first artist on the Def Jam label, bringing his demo to Rick Rubin's NYU dorm room, and why Rubin's genius is in "reducing" rather than producing tracks. The rap legends also break down how LL officially coined the term “G.O.A.T.,” the vulnerability it took to release a hip-hop ballad like "I Need Love," and why veteran MCs shouldn't let fear of criticism stop them from contributing new classics to the library of hip-hop. Plus, LL explains his choice to navigate the industry with a disciplined inner circle rather than a large entourage and teases the upcoming Rock the Bells Festival.
