#837 - Ruben Boumtje-Boumtje speaks on JoJo's path to Duke

On Episode 837, we have a very special interview! We get to chat with Ruben Boumtje-Boumtje, the father of incoming freshman Joakim Boumtje Boumtje!

JoJo has had a non-traditional journey to a traditional pathway to the NBA due to Ruben’s career in the NBA, overseas, and now as an executive for the Basketball Africa League. We start by discussing Joakim’s path and what Ruben and his family was looking for in a place for JoJo to develop into the budding star he has become. We ask Ruben if Joakim is really 7’2” and where he thinks JoJo can get even better as he starts at Duke.

We also get into the BAL and how it has grown to be a pipeline of talent to the college level as players aspire to make it to the NBA. We talk about how the league is coming along and what its future holds as Africa becomes a major power in the sport.
