Who Is Romano Floriani Mussolini? Benito’s Great-Grandson at Lazio

WHO IS ROMANO FLORIANI MUSSOLINI?

Nima Tavallaey and Carlo Garganese profile Lazio’s Romano Floriani Mussolini—tracing his unusual footballing journey, analysing his playing style and examining what it means to carry one of the most recognisable surnames in Italian history.

Born in Rome in 2003, Floriani Mussolini is the son of Alessandra Mussolini, grandson of musician Romano Mussolini and great-grandson of former Italian dictator Benito Mussolini.

🦅 FROM LAZIO’S ACADEMY TO SERIE A

After developing with Spes Artiglio, Roma, Vigor Perconti and Lazio, he gained senior experience through loan spells at Pescara, Juve Stabia and Cremonese before returning to establish himself in Lazio’s first-team squad.

Standing 1.88 metres tall, Floriani Mussolini is an attack-minded right-sided player whose principal strengths include his engine, overlapping runs, aerial ability and movement towards the far post.

⚽ PLAYING STYLE, STRENGTHS AND POTENTIAL

The guys discuss why João Cancelo, Kyle Walker and Trent Alexander-Arnold are among his positional models, where he still needs to improve and how high his ceiling could be at Lazio.

They also assess how his surname has shaped public interest in his career—and why the player wants to be judged for what he produces on the pitch.

📖 MUSSOLINI SCORES ON TURATI

Nima and Carlo examine the remarkable historical coincidence surrounding his goal against Stefano Turati in Lazio’s 6–2 win over Sassuolo on 27 October 2026.

Floriani Mussolini scored from Kenneth Taylor’s cross exactly 104 years after the fascist mobilisation leading to the March on Rome began.

The surnames evoke Benito Mussolini and his reformist-socialist parliamentary opponent Filippo Turati—although Stefano Turati is not known to be related to the historic politician.
