The Chuck Long Podcast

We are back for another season of the Chuck Long Podcast. Each week after the Hawkeye game, Tom Kakert and Chuck Long break down all the action on the field. This week we start with the Hawkeyes season opening 40-0 win over Northern Illinois. 

This week we start with an extended discussion on the performance of the two quarterbacks. Long looks in-depth at the play of Hank Brown and praised his throws to Tony Diaz, but also noticed something he needs to work on throws to the outside and down the field. He also talks about the play of Jeremy Hecklinski and how he was performing in this game and was he potentially pressing a bit after Iowa's hot start. 

We also discuss the improved running from Kamari Moulton and how he is running hard and better this year and with more explosiveness to his game. Also we are talking about Kirk Ferentz mentioning the struggles with their play along the goal line and how they might have to adjust to a different package in those situations. Finally we are talking about the Iowa defense and what impressed us. 

Then we take an early look at the Iowa State team and scouting what is basically an entirely new team and what to expect this weekend. Did the new Iowa State head coach making remarks after he was hired about Iowa provide motivation for this game? Then we take a trip around the Big Ten, including a discussion of the wild game at Michigan and pick some games this week, including  Iowa State at Iowa.
