It's a special edition of the Hawkeye Report Podcast. We are joined by the Logan Ogden, the Director of Athletic Performance fror the University of Iowa Men's Basketball Program. We get to know Ogden, who grew up in What Cheer, IA rooting for the Hawkeyes. He talks about his journey as a strength and conditioning coach, that included stops in South Dakota, Omaha, and Utah before finding his way to Iowa to work for Ben McCollum.
He talks about how he was able to connect with McCollum and land the job of his dreams working with the Iowa men's basketball program. We discuss the first days with the Iowa program and setting a tough standard out of the gate and pushing the players early on. We discuss the type of workouts that he uses, including Olympic lifting and why he has always believed in that sort of training. Ogden also talks about how it is so rare that the Iowa coaches are fully active in offering encouragement to the players when they are in the weight room offering encouragement.
We talk about his role in the recruiting process and the honestly he offers to recruits when they visit Iowa. He talks about how he works with the players on their diet and the impact it has had on several players. Ogden talks about some of the players that has shown improvement, including the new players who arrived this summer.
