Loose Mesh Podcast — Quarterfinals Edition

The National Lacrosse League playoffs didn’t just deliver… they blew the bracket wide open.

Top seeds are out. Momentum flipped entire games. And now, we’re heading into a semifinal round that feels completely unpredictable.

This is the Quarterfinals Edition of the Loose Mesh Podcast — and we’ve got a loaded show.

We’re joined by Kean Moon, fresh off tying an NLL playoff record with 6 assists in a single game as a rookie against the Buffalo Bandits. We get into what he was seeing on the floor, how the game slowed down for him in that moment, and what’s changed for him heading into the semifinals. Was that just a breakout performance… or the arrival of a problem for the rest of the league?

From there, we turn the page and look ahead to the semifinals.

Toronto vs San Diego — this one is all about pace versus structure. Toronto has been at their best when they’re pushing tempo, creating runs, and forcing teams into uncomfortable spots. San Diego, on the other hand, just proved they can win tight, disciplined playoff games. The big question is simple: who controls the game?

Halifax vs Georgia — two teams peaking at the right time, but getting there in completely different ways. Halifax is coming off one of the wildest comebacks we’ve seen, riding emotion and momentum. Georgia is playing a more controlled, structured brand of offense with contributions across the board. Emotion versus execution — something’s got to give.

We also bring in Fricks for a breakdown on some key rule interpretations and what we’re seeing right now around crease calls, replay, and how the Canadian Lacrosse Association’s standards connect to the NLL game. If you’ve been questioning some of the decisions this postseason, this segment adds real clarity.

And on the Canadian lacrosse front, a major leadership update — Barbara Lockhart has been named the new president of the Canadian Lacrosse Association. We discuss what that means for the direction of the game in Canada and how it could impact development, governance, and the future of the sport at all levels.

If the quarterfinals taught us anything, it’s this — there’s no script anymore. Not in this league, not in one-game playoffs. The teams that adjust the fastest are the ones still playing.

Records tied. Upsets everywhere. New leadership in Canadian lacrosse. And a semifinal round that feels completely wide open.
