Atlanta Braves Holdings successfully diversified its revenue enough to withstand six fewer home games. Q2 also revealed the price of that strategy. BravesVision replaced a predictable rights-fee arrangement with a higher-upside but significantly more expensive operating business. Management believes the new platform can match or exceed the old television revenue on an annualized basis. Revenue parity alone will not reproduce the old economics because Atlanta now carries recurring production, distribution, sales and administrative costs.
